Softworx are a specialist ICT service provider with offices in Glasgow, Durham and Manchester.
Glow was commissioned to streamline the Softworx logo, which features energetic red, blue and green pixel-style dots in a circular form above the name of the company in a corporate-grey Unica One font. The font chosen, reminiscent of computer-style text, hints at their IT specialisation.
The strapline, ‘Connect | Secure | Transform’ is intended to relay to customers the direct simplicity of their offering. Having defined this smart new look, we also produced comprehensive brand guidelines to enable the company to maintain brand uniformity over coming years.
To enable Softworx to stand out in an extremely competetive IT, Data Compliance and Data Security marketplace, Glow needed to come up with a site design which would communicate Softworx's message in a corporate, yet stylish and innovative manner.
For easier navigation across the site, Softworx's services are defined in two distinct sections containing 9 services each - Connectivity & Collaboration (blue services) and Infosec & Compliance (green services). Each service has its own dedicated page offering detailed information for potential customers.
To demonstrate their business strength and broad geographical reach, we produced a digital header video for their website, communicating Softworx's core values and competencies in a mini one-minute film with overlaid text.
Video elements include a spinning globe, city skyscapes at nught, business colleagues at work, and a mobile phone close-u etc, overlaid with a deep colour filter and a pixel gauze, echoing their digital roots.
While Softworx were keen to be seen as strong corporate players, they also wanted to communicate their easygoing nature and a certain lightness of touch. Glow therefore worked closely with Softworx to determine a fun illustrative style to suit their personality.
We created a series of 11 bespoke illustrations, centred around their core services, which could then be integrated across all the service sections of the site and be used across their literature too. The attractive and humorous images feature cartoon characters communicating with each other using old-fashioned cups and string; birds sitting on telephone wires; a burglar attempting to gain entrance to a building using a battering ram, but thwarted by an extremely capable security guard; and people joyfully throwing books into a giant box, labelled GDPR!
The illustration-led website was an extremely-detailed build, with many elements requiring significant planning in close collaboration with Softworx’s leaders over several months. However, it was worth the wait! The resulting website highlights Softworx’s competency across many areas of IT and Digital, and has enabled the company to rise head and shoulders above the competition in an extremely crowded marketplace.
“The process has taken longer than I expected, however I am very pleased with the end result.” - Alan Smillie, Founder, Softworx
