Brand Perfect Tour 2011

...an event on brand to get you thinking

27 May 2011

This week saw London host the Brand Perfect Tour, while this would have been our ideal day out, we were busy beavering away in the office in Durham & didn't make it to the big smoke.

Still, we were interested in what was happening and have been following some of the coverage from the event. Creative Review have an interesting article with some of the key messages from the day.

The article raises some interesting points of view, but what do we think?

Firstly, the Logo is alive & kicking. The visual identity of a brand is its face - it is what we remember and recognise. A strong & distinctive logo is still an asset to any brand.

The shift, we feel, is the consistency brands need isn't just visual anymore - as the CR article points out, consistency now needs to go across your whole brand personality, tone of voice & behaviour. It used to be a case of following your Brand Guidelines, reproducing the style, colour & font correctly. Now you need to think about guidelines for your tone & personality. Getting all of these details right will build longer more loyal relationships with your customers.

The reason this new approach to consistency is so important is down to the huge number of platforms you are now using to communicate. The way you behave on Twitter or Facebook needs to come across with the same feel as they way you communicate in your direct mail & communications material.

This article got us thinking & we hope it gets you think too. Do you need to take control of your brand personality - before it gets too late?

We can deliver workshops to help you define your personality, define your guidelines and help you to deliver everything with not only a consistent visual, but also a consistent tone of voice.
